 We invest a lot of emotions in to our jewelry when we buy them. Since most of us do not buy jewelry very often, the buying of jewelry is more than often a symbolic gesture. Sometimes our loved one surprises us with jewelry, sometimes we surprise them with one. In all cases, the jewelry carries a lot of meaning and significance. A lot of happy memories like weddings and engagements are often associated with jewelry.
It is thus a heart breaking experience when jewelries do not last. Sometimes the luster goes away, sometimes the gems fall out and sometimes the whole thing just falls to pieces. This is often a problem with necklaces because only a thread of some kind is holding it all together and it can break over time. But sometimes even pendants detach themselves from their holds; chains break in to pieces. Jewelry with links are especially vulnerable to this because links are the structurally weakest areas that hold the entire thing together.
